Age: 16 (Sophomore in High School)
Supernatural Traits/Abilities?: Nope. Normal school girl. Feel free to drag in supernatural/fantasy traits/features if you want to though, I can drag almost anyone into an adventure. ^^
Personality: Kind of quiet and thoughtful in general - around her few close friends she opens up a bit as a hyperactive, wild, imaginative girl, but her mouth is more often set in a tight line than a smile. Jolie is the type of person who, at first glance, one might think would be popular- she's homecoming queen pretty, although she doesn't realize it, and is often overlooked because she's shy and doesn't speak up. She has trust issues (explained in History.)

History: Jolie's parents disappeared from her life when she was very little. Her father was a kind, loving man whom she had adored and loved with her whole heart - he died in an explosion at the factory he worked in when she was seven years old, leaving her alone with just her mother. (Trust Issue: The morning of the day her father died, she had stood with him and her mother in the kitchen eating chocolate chip pancakes he'd made for her. He spoke to Jolie's mother teasingly about something going on at work, and commented that he would probably be home late. Jolie said, "Be back in time for dinner though, kay?" To which he had smiled and nodded. "Promise?" she had asked, and he'd grinned and swept her up and promised as he'd tickled her until she cried with laughter. Then he kissed his wife, ruffled Jolie's hair, walked out the door, and it was the last time they ever saw him.) Jolie's mother was every bit as kind and loving as her father had been, but a few months after the man's death it was discovered she had a brain tumor. It was caught early and she fully recovered from this, but years later she returned to the doctors again, this time to find out she had lymphoma. Within months the disease had worsened despite the attempted treatment, and through it all Jolie had known what to expect. Fourteen years old, she sat with her mother in their living room, the woman laying out under a thick blanket on the couch, clasping Jolie's hand between her own frozen palms. She'd smiled and acted as if nothing wrong, but the illness was too much now, and Jolie could see how much it had weakened her once-strong mother. That morning in December, they had allowed themselves to talk about what Jolie believed was the inevitable, but she denied it whenever her mother spoke of the essentials in case something should happen. "You're not going anywhere," she would say. "I need you." Her mother's eyes would widen, then grow soft, and eventually she gave a weary smile and said, "You're right. Of course you're right, how could I even... I'm sorry. I'm not going anywhere. This is just a little obstacle, I'm going to get better and soon we'll play tennis together and I'll take you to every concert you want to go to and we'll get a cat." Jolie had looked at her with tears in her eyes, wanting so badly to believe the words. Trust Issue: Her mother ran a hand over the girl's cheek and smiled once more as she whispered, "I promise." The reassurance had lifted the teenager's spirit, and she had nodded, hugged her mother, and left for school. When she arrived home that evening, there was no mother waiting for her, but a medic from the local hospital who, over the years, she had come to know as Paul. Paul did not sugar-coat things; he told her with tight eyes that her mother was once again in the hospital, the condition had taken a turn for the worse, and he honestly didn't expect her to make it much longer. Jolie spent the next few days in the infirmary with her mother, who was unconscious through the entirety of it all - the third day marked the last day of school until after winter break, and it was also the day Nikki Taylor died, having never once opened her eyes throughout her final hospitalization. The last words she had said to Jolie were "I promise", and two years later they are the last words she wants to hear from anyone. Now she lives with her aunt Lisa in the same appartment, attending the local high school. She has a few friends she's somewhat comfortable with, but tends to distance herself - she wants high school to be over, and after it is she plans to get as far away from this small town as possible.
